Mantra Singing

Create a Connection

My journey with mantras began in an ashram with my parents, where we first sang Sanskrit mantras together. Over the years, I've discovered that mantra singing is deeply personal, what resonates with you might be different from what calls to someone else.

I've since expanded my practice to include other languages and songs alongside the traditional Sanskrit. What I find most beautiful about mantras is how easily they bring you into a flow. Creating a connection with yourself that naturally extends to others when you sing together.

There's something magical about the repetition of a simple phrase, often what matters most is the vibration behind the words rather than the words themselves. This simplicity also makes it easy to sing a second musical line without rehearsing. Simply by relaxing into the sound, your musical intuition opens up.

Practical Information

I begin with a guided meditation to settle into your body and breath. Then we sing mantras together, with quiet pauses between each one. As the singing fades, we rest together in deep meditation. The simplicity of the mantras is also reflected in the accompaniment. I play solo and unamplified on the harmonium, ukulele, drums or N'goni.

The whole experience is one flowing meditation,a gentle invitation to discover the peace and joy that lives within you.
